A native of the central Michigan area who grew up in Mason and graduated from high school there in 1972, Dr. Gary R. Hubbard has proudly served patients throughout the greater Lansing area for almost 35 years.
After studying at Michigan State University, Dr. Hubbard attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry — graduating in the top 10% of his class in 1978. He then accepted an appointment as a clinical instructor at the University of Michigan Dental School, and returned to Lansing to begin private practice in 1980. In 2011, he was awarded accredited member status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, an honor shared with only eleven others in Michigan.
Dr. Hubbard has been active member of organized dentistry at the local, state and national level, actively participating in numerous organizations. Dr. Hubbard served for seven years on the University of Michigan School of Dentistry Alumni Board of Governors and for ten years as the Legislative Chairperson for the Central District Dental Society — an organization he has served for almost 30 years. He was president of the organization in 1990 and has held numerous roles within the organization, including Treasurer (1987), Secretary (1988), President-Elect (1989), Peer Review Committee Chairperson (2005-09) and Peer Review Committee member (1983-87). Between 1986 and 1990, he also served as a delegate to the MDA House.
In addition to a keen interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Hubbard and his wife Karen enjoy numerous outdoor activities, including golf, downhill and cross country skiing, fly-fishing, hunting and scuba diving. They have two grown sons: John, who works as a computer security specialist for Glaxo-Smith-Kline and Matthew, who works as a consultant for Price Waterhouse Coopers in Washington D.C.
Dr. Hubbard volunteers his time as an annual participant in the Donated Dental Services program and is a member of the Sparrow Foundation.
